Interior vs. Exterior Paint
Choosing the right paint starts with knowing where it belongs. Interior paint is meant to be lived with day in and day out. Exterior paint is formulated to withstand outdoor elements. Both have important jobs, just different purposes.

Interior Paint
Create the right finish for every room
Most homes typically use a flat finish for ceilings, eggshell for walls, and semi-gloss for trim and doors. However, we provide guides and personalized advice to help you choose the right finish for your project needs
Interior Finish Guide
Ceilings, low-traffic areas, and spaces where you want minimal sheen.
Flat / Matte
Eggshell
Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and other everyday spaces.
Satin
Kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms, and areas needing easier cleaning.
Semi-Gloss
Trim, doors, cabinets, bathrooms, and other high-use surfaces.
High-Gloss
Doors, trim, furniture, and accent surfaces for a durable, high-sheen finish.

Exterior Paint
Built for Maine's changing seasons
Maine's freeze-thaw cycles, humidity, and long winters put real stress on exterior paint. That's why you want paint that looks good but is also made tough to withstand the elements.
What to Consider
Choose exterior products designed to withstand moisture and changing weather conditions.
Weather Resistance
Durability

Our Full Product Lineup

Aura® Interior & Exterior Paint
Aura is the flagship of Benjamin Moore's paint selection. Its richness and color lock technology make it extremely fade resistant, easy to match to swatches, and the best coverage you can get of any interior or exterior line. It is a 100% acrylic low VOC product and is built for a variety of surfaces and climates.
Aura Interior paint comes in Matte, Eggshell, Satin, and Semi-Gloss finishes.
Aura Exterior paint is available in Flat, Low Lustre, Satin, and Soft Gloss finish.
Aura Bath & Spa is a specialized formula of Aura that is equal in quality, but also built for high-humidity spaces like bathrooms and spas.

Regal® Select Interior & Exterior Paint
Regal Select is our best-selling and most recommended line. Regal Select is great for most rooms in your home, especially the ones that are used frequently. It has incredible washability, scuff resistance, flow and leveling, and strong coverage. It's also known for its ease of application and more affordable price point. It comes in Flat, Matte, Eggshell, Satin/Pearl, and Semi-Gloss.
For exterior projects, we recommend Regal Select High Build Exterior. It's great for a project that needs a thicker, high-build coat that fills hairline cracks in the substrate. It's available in Flat, Low Lustre, and Soft Gloss. For doors, trim, and vinyl siding, the Moorlife, Moorgard, and Moorglo lines offer superior adhesion.

Ben® Interior Paint
Ben Interior is one step down in quality from Regal Select, but it still packs a powerful punch. Unlike Aura and Regal Select, Ben is zero-VOC, making it a smart choice for a nursery or for anyone especially sensitive to odors. It's also a practical and more cost-effective option for lower-use spaces like a spare bedroom, where you don't need Regal Select's heavier-duty performance. Ben comes in Matte, Eggshell, Satin/Pearl, and Semi-Gloss.

Scuff-X® Interior Paint
Scuff-X is also a very popular choice and has over time become one of our most requested interior lines. It is specifically built for unmatched durability and scuff resistance. It's the right call for high-traffic areas like entryways and hallways, or any rooms that might be accident prone, such as from kids or pets. Scuff-X comes in Matte, Eggshell, Satin, and Semi-Gloss.

Ultra Spec® Interior & Exterior Paint
Ultra Spec is Benjamin Moore's commercial-grade line. It's designed for contractors and property managers handling large-scale or repeat projects. It's zero-VOC, which makes it a common pick alongside Ben for schools, hospitals, and other spaces where a zero-VOC product is specified. It's known for its fast dry times, resistance to wear and tear, and consistent results.

SuperHide® (Commercial)
SuperHide is a cost-effective, commercial-focused paint built for property managers and contractors who need reliable coverage across large volumes of square footage. It's a practical choice for quick but massive projects like rental turnovers, commercial spaces, and other high-volume paint jobs.

Advance® Interior (Cabinet Paint)
Advance is Benjamin Moore's waterborne alkyd enamel It's water reducible and cleans up with soap and water. It is built to deliver the hard, furniture-like finish of an oil-based paint without the strong fumes or long dry time. It's the best option for cabinets, trim, doors, and furniture, since it self-levels for a smooth finish and lasts through daily handling.

Woodluxe® Exterior Stain
Woodluxe is Benjamin Moore's exterior wood stain line. It's formulated to withstand humid climate, UV exposure, and temperature swings. The water-based Solid Stain option is a common choice for decking and siding, while the Ultra Flat product works well on siding and fencing. Woodluxe has semi-solid, semi-transparent, and translucent finishes in both water-based and oil-based formulas, so you can dial in on exactly how much wood grain shows through. We recommend translucent finishes for hardwoods, and semi-transparent and semi-solid options for softwoods.
Eco-friendly Paint Options
Maybe you're working on a nursery room, a home for a chemically sensitive family, or a commercial project like with hospitals or schools. No matter the case, when you want a zero-VOC or low-odor option, Ultra Spec and Ben are the best lines for the job.

Ultra Spec® Paint
Zero-VOC and built for schools, hospitals, and other spaces where clean air matters. It also has fast dry times and delivers consistent results.

Eco Spec® Interior Paint
Benjamin Moore's greenest, lowest-odor interior paint. It´s low odor, zero VOC, and zero emissions. This makes it an eco-friendly and health-conscious option for playrooms, nurseries, hospitals and any space where indoor air quality matters.

Ben® Paint
Zero-VOC and low odor, it's ideal for nurseries and anyone sensitive to smells. It's also a practical and cost-effective choice for lower-use spaces.
Specialty Paints and Primers

Advance® (Waterborne Alkyd Cabinet Paint)
Advance is the best choice when you're working on cabinets or similar furnishings that need an oil-based finish without oil-based fumes or dry time.

Ultra Spec® DTM (Direct-to-Metal)
Ultra Spec DTM applies directly to metal surfaces, with no separate primer required in most cases. It's a common choice for metal railings, doors, fire escapes, and commercial equipment that need a durable, rust-resistant finish without an extra prep step.

Zinsser B-I-N® Primer
BIN Primer may not be a Benjamin Moore product, but we recommend it for sealing knots, water stains, and smoke odor damage quickly. It's shellac-based, dries fast, and blocks stains and odors that would otherwise bleed through your topcoat.

Kilz® Original Interior Primer
Kilz is another non-Benjamin Moore product we carry for stubborn stain-blocking needs. Similarly to BIN, it's a reliable option when surfaces need serious sealing before paint goes on. It's considered more cost-effective and has a wider variety of formula options, including water-based, oil-based, and synthetic options. It's used most commonly for general priming and household stains.

Stix® Bonding Primer
Stix is Benjamin Moore's water-based bonding primer, built to stick to slick, glossy surfaces like tile, laminate, glass, and PVC without sanding first. It's the primer our team recommends most often for tricky surfaces that would otherwise reject paint.
Wood Stains We Carry

Old Masters® Interior Oil Stains
Old Masters is an interior oil-based wood stain line. It's known for its deep, rich color and strong penetration into wood grain. It's a common choice for furniture, trim, and cabinetry where you want to enhance the wood's natural character rather than cover it.

Woodluxe® Exterior Stains (Full Line)
Woodluxe's full range of solid, semi-solid, semi-transparent, and translucent finishes, comes in both water- and oil-based formulas. It's one of the most versatile stain systems we carry for siding, decks, fences, and log homes.

Cabot® Stains
Cabot is a long-standing name in exterior wood care. It is commonly used for deck and siding stains because it's made for weatherproofing and UV protection. We carry Cabot as an alternative option for customers who want a specific finish or color range outside the Benjamin Moore stain lineup.
